Does Michelle Wie suffer from the Judas syndrome ?

July 22, 2008- The Judas syndrome is best described as a self serving but unconscious desire to at best fail, at worse self destruct. A recent example of Judas syndrome self destruction would be former New York Governor Ben Spitzer whose foolishly open dealings with prostitutes led to his public humiliation and that of his family as well.

Often times the Judas syndrome is brought to bare by extraordinary expectations set by one's parents especially one's father and the child's not only lack of desire to fulfill these expectations but a self hatred for failing to do so as well.

One has to wonder if this is what really ails Michelle Wie. Let's start back in 2006 when the Young Wie was playing like the champion she can become. Starting with the 2006 Women's British Open the young teen commits her second rules infraction of the season leading to her virtual collapse finishing tied for 26th, her worst LPGA performance to that point in the 2006 season. Then later on in the season instead of hitting a ball from the cart path she takes a drop, it rolls under a bush and she proceeds to whiff at the 2006 Samsung World Championship resulting in a major league melt down that leaves her 21 strokes behind the winner. Moving on to the injury plagued and disappointing 2007 season we see nothing but low lights and troubles.

Now as the 2008 season began we once again began to see the flashes of brilliance that should lead her not only into the record books but the history books as well. Then just as her golf reaches that plateau of greatness ( 3 rounds in the 60's, to put herself in second place she forgets to sign her score card before leaving the scorer's area leading to her disqualification. When you realize that that the first thing you do after playing any type of competitive round golf is verify and sign your score card, it make you wonder.
